Basic Freediving Safety

Freediving offers tremendous benefits for our bodies and minds, and is deeply ingrained in our local culture and community here in Hawai‘i - however, due to a lack of accessible freediving and spearfishing safety education, it’s tragically responsible for a significant number of preventable drownings in our community.

Freediving fatalities and drownings are preventable. While the full Level 1 or Junior course is recommended, Basic Freediving Safety offers a more accessible option for those looking to establish basic understanding of foundational freediving safety. You will learn about hypoxia and hypoxic incidents, direct supervision, safe equipment use, and practice hands-on safety skills in a confined water environment. Open to divers of all levels, it's an invaluable addition to any freediver's skill set.

Duration: 1 day
